Liverpool Markets, Orange Grove Road

Markets add something special to the community. I love quality markets. The buzz, energy and community spirit are always evident and children also seem to enjoy the experience, especially if there’s an ice cream or two on offer.

Liverpool Markets has just the right mix to make it a great family day out. Open on Saturdays and Sundays, it offers an eclectic mix of stalls selling fashion, homewares, electrical items, toys and so on at greatly discounted prices. There’s also a range of fresh fruit and vegetables to tempt as well as a huge food court to satisfy the hunger pangs after your big shop. On my last walk around, I noticed a fantastic Indian sari shop displaying some of the most exquisite fabrics I have seen.

I really like the fact that the markets are housed in an enormous, covered, air-conditioned building so whether it’s hot, cold, windy, wet or dry you can shop in comfort. Free parking is available for 3000 cars on-site, which is fabulous.

Entertainment is provided every weekend, so it makes for a fantastic family day out for not a lot of cash and, in the end, isn’t that what true market shopping is all about? Fun, great bargains and some cash left in your wallet at the end of the day.
