Appliance Factory Seconds’ two outlets on the Northern Beaches and up the F3 on the Central Coast sell factory second whitegoods at discounted prices. There are plenty of fridges, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers and split-system airconditioners to warm your heart or cool your head. Major brands include LG, Samsung, Haier and Whirlpool. The seconds have no working problems, just small dings or cabinet imperfections and if you can live with them, your wallet will thank you. You can save as much as 30 per cent on a popular side-by-side ice-maker fridge. When we last checked, a Whirlpool dishwasher was $599, a 430-litre Samsung fridge was $899 and a Samsung 7kg front-loader washing machine was $499. The good news is that these prices were unchanged from last year. Warranties vary from 12 months to five years. Some warranties are covered by the manufacturer and some by the shop, depending on the product.
