Reputation is everything in the fashion industry, and Good as New has an enviable one. This new and recycled women’s clothing store has been around for 20 years and over that time has built a loyal following of high-street fashion labels whose first preference is Good as New to on-sell their excess stock. The store is spoilt for choice with stock (which arrives daily), so it can afford to be very picky about quality and cost. The main focus here is upmarket daywear and accessories at one-third or less than the retail price. Labels are from boutiques or high-end department stores and include Jane Lamerton, Country Road, Simona, Trent Resort, Resort Report, Cordelia Collection (a favourite among the regulars), Meredith, Marco Polo, Philosophy, Rodney Clark and many more. Sizes range from 8 to 22. Shoes — in labels such as Nine West, Jane Debster and Filippo Raphael — are in mint condition, at an average price of $25 and up to $50.
